Like many psychic, medium or other spiritual practitioners, I work a regular, 9-5 job and Spirit communication is currently only a part-time job. For a long time, I didn’t tell my full-time regular job about, well, my “other gig”. I kept it to myself mostly because I was scared I’d be fired or deemed, let’s say, “lacking in credentials”.
About a year ago, I decided enough was enough. I was coming out as a medium.
So I did. Guess what? I still have my job!
The outing was much less dramatic than I had anticipated. There were a few raised eyebrows, a couple of huh?’s, I think even an “oh, bless her heart” (for those raised in the South you know what that really means!).
Mostly what I got and still get are Sixth Sense references of “I see dead people” quoted in meetings and did I bring my crystal ball jokes — all of which inspired this post!
As you know already, crystal balls are associated with fortune-telling and future-predicting. I am finding that a lot of people lump that and mediumship all under the broad umbrella of PSYCHICS.
Well, as a medium, that’s not what I do at all. I can’t give you the winning lottery numbers and have no clue where your missing earrings are –although I know some folks that probably can find them! (It’s called remote viewing and it’s awesome!)
Both psychics and mediums perceive information uses extrasensory perception – or senses outside of the five physical senses. You may have heard of them referred to as the “clairs”.
The Predominant Clairs for Psychics and Mediums:
Clairvoyance – “clear seeing” – the ability to receive intuitive messages and information visually.
Clairaudience – “clear hearing” – the ability to receive intuitive information audibly, sometimes internally, like a voice in your head, and sometimes externally.
Clairsentience – “clear feeling” – receiving intuitive information through feelings and emotions.
Claircognizance – “clear knowing” – essentially it’s a light bulb or aha moment. Thoughts, words, or understanding pop into your head very quickly, sometimes randomly or out of context.
A psychic receives information through the “clairs”, from vibrational energy. This energy, sometimes referred to as the aura, can be associated with a person, or even a place or object. During a psychic reading, an energetic connection is made directly between the psychic and the client. From this link, psychics can perceive information to include past, present or future events.
Most of the time, people will book psychic readings for answers to current life or potential future situations.
Like in a psychic reading, information received in a mediumship reading can come from the client’s energy field but, and here is the main discriminator between the two types of readings, information is also received directly from Spirit.
In a typical mediumship reading, the medium will have a direct energetic link with both the client and with Spirit.
The Spirits that come forth could be deceased loved ones, angels, Archangel, Spirit Guide or other spiritual beings. Most people seeking a medium are looking to connect with someone close to them who has passed away.
Because there is also a link to the client and information can be received psychically as well, mediums are often referred to as psychic mediums.
So, essentially, all mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums.
Bottom line differentiating factor: mediums receive information directly from Sprit.
Hope this “claired” a few things up. Oh my…. that was really bad. My son is hanging his head in shame right now, which makes it totally worth posting. LOL!
